Anel Martínez
Anel Martinez is from Mexico. She graduated from LaGuardia Community College as a Community Health Worker (CHW), and she completed her internship at Lincoln Hospital in the Bronx NY.
She has more than 10 years of experience working in different non-profit organizations and empowering the community in different areas related to health, such as preventive care, education, social services, and sexual and reproductive health.
She presents workshops on different health topics in different places including schools, churches, community centers, consulates, and more.
She volunteered at the organization VIP ( a local Domestic Violence Intervention Program), educating the community on domestic violence prevention and the importance of healthy relationships, as well as providing support.
She is currently a member of the board of (VOICES) a program of the Family Justice Center in NYC, which focuses on Ending Domestic and Gender Violence.
For Anel, her greatest pleasure is being able to be the bridge between the services and the community, being able to empower the people of her community, and helping them develop their potential and achieve their goals in this country.
María Meneses
Maria was born in Puebla, Mexico, and immigrated to New York City in 1999.
For the past four years, Maria has been an Adult Sexuality Educator where she works to increase access to sexual and reproductive healthcare for the Latinx community.
Among her many daily tasks, she provides education, medical interpretation, English to Spanish at the PPGNYs Mobile Unit and connects individuals with various resources.
She has been volunteering with multiple community organizations for several years, including Sanctuary for Families at Survivor Leader’s Coalition. Her involvement in this work has allowed her to provide important information to the community about domestic violence and healthy relationships. Recently, she was given the honor and privilege of becoming a member of their board.
Additionally, Maria is a volunteer promoter at Mixteca, a Brooklyn-based community organization, where she helps to facilitate presentations on topics like Public Charge and Know Your Rights.
She is a housing advocate and related to this mission she worked with Samuels Group as a shelter and housing consultant.
Maria is passionate about advocating for marginalized communities, especially the Latinx and immigrant communities in New York.

Zenayda Bonilla

Zenayda Bonilla
Zenayda is an immigrant woman born and raised in El Salvador. She moved to NYC in 2003.
Zenayda is a first-generation college student. Now in her junior college, pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services at the NYC College of Technology.
She is also a worker-owner of Golden Steps Elder Care Cooperative. For more than 10 years, she has been able to work as a caregiver and also in different leadership roles.
She is an active member of the NYC NOWC Advocacy Council where she can fight against racial and social injustices.
Zenayda knows the importance of giving quality services to communities at a disadvantage. She is committed to working hard and advocating for immigrant communities. She has the privilege of advocating and volunteering on the PTA’s board of members, in local schools; working with kids on the Vacation Bible Schools and child ministry at churches; and organizations such as Center for Family Life, Mixteca Org, and Brooklyn Community Bail Fund.
Zenayda played an important role in advocating for campaigns and programs such as NYC Care; co-leading the Sanctuary for Families Project helping families at risk of deportation; delivering 800+ Know Your Rights workshops citywide; and helping community members to access and apply to the historical Exclude Workers Funds.
Her dedication and commitment have been recognized by CFL through a community award in 2019. The US Federation of Workers Cooperaterties awarded “Cooperativism of the Year” in 2022. And recently Zenayda Bonilla received a citation from Councilmember Alexa Aviles District 38 representative this year.
